Sentencing of Defendant in Texas to Mobile Cocaine Conspiracy
MOBILE, AL—Lisa Jones, a Houston, Texas resident, was sentenced on
May 26, 2009, by Senior United States District Court Judge Charles R. Butler, Jr.
Jones, who entered a guilty plea to a Texas to Mobile cocaine conspiracy count,
received a 10-month sentence.
In her Factual Resume filed at the time of her guilty plea, Lisa Jones
admitted that she was employed by Continental Airlines in Houston and that from
2005 through 2008 she received “buddy passes” as part of her compensation. Lisa Jones admitted that her cousin, Daron Jones, who also entered a
guilty plea to a cocaine conspiracy and who has been sentenced, had couriers fly
from Detroit, Michigan to Houston and to Mobile using Lisa Jones’ “buddy
passes.” Lisa Jones also admitted that, in the fall of 2007, she picked up drug
proceeds from Wayne Lafitte in Mobile for Daron Jones which she transported to
Daron Jones in Houston. Lafitte, who was arrested in Mobile in January of 2008,
entered a guilty plea to a cocaine conspiracy and has also been sentenced.
The case was investigated by the FBI, the Mobile County Sheriff’s
Department and the Mobile Police Department. The case was prosecuted by
Assistant United States Attorney Deborah Griffin.
